Last weekend I was invited to attend the Hastings Race Course in style! A handful of people were selected to sit in a VIP box, with food, drinks and all the rest. My friend Terri Potratz and I went together and – of course – put on our best ‘My Fair Lady’ outfits.
It was a beautiful day, as we got to have a special tour of the paddock, the man in the sky who announces the races to the whole country, a private seating at the official starting gate, and so much more!
It’s free all the time to go watch the races, and I have been there a couple of times before, but this was completely an outstanding experience. We had people teaching us how to bet ( these people are there for your questions all the time apparently! ) They were super informative and helped to explain all the racing “lingo”. I ended up leaving at $0 but had won $60 on a $4 bet but proceeded to lose my winnings as the day progressed ( may have been the white wine) JK. It was so exciting to see the horses and cheer like a crazy person from along side the track!
The Hastings Race Course is one of the only places you can get a serious adrenaline rush for a minimum bet of only $2! The entire staff was helpful and sincere, and I couldn’t have had a better time. One thing I learned while in the VIP booth was that every Friday night there is a DJ – a horse party if you will 😉 As much as I love the Sunday fashion dress up times, I will definitely be checking out a Friday!
I was also given a VIP prize pack for two, to give away. Items include:
- Silks Admission, Reserved Seating
- Buffet for 2 Guests in Silks Restaurant
- Official Hastings Program
- Official Hastings Race Course Scarf
– so check Twitter for how to win this!
