kdon Spring Summer line coming soon.

Over the past months I have been living on the beautiful Galiano Island just off the coast of British Columbia. It is truly a magical place full of spirit, life, love and wisdom. Some of you may have been following along on this journey as I have been posting video diary entries documenting some of the trials and lessons I have been facing. Addictions to communication, fear of the dark, fear of being alone, and  withdrawing from society are just a handful of the things that I have encountered. It has been a life changing experience so far and its only been a few months.

There is a magical arbutus patch on Winstanley point, a mere canoe ride across Montague harbour from my place, or a hike through the woods will get you there in less than an hour. It is these trees that began a journey into self, into spirituality and into the woods. This journey has provided  inspiration for my new line of clothes, and a fresh attitude towards my career in fashion. This collection is essentially an ode to mother nature, and the female side of god. The emperess dress is my favorite piece and is still being developed. It is a conscious manifestation of a subconscious realization that took moving to an island for me to figure out.

There is more. Much more to this story and I will let if flow as it feels fit. For now, here is the emperess dress a place of reference to draw back to when this entire story unfolds.

  1. Wow, it’s beautiful. I can’t wait to see more photos of it from different angles. I love it so far. Your blog entry is very beautiful and intriguing. I look forward to hearing your story as it unfolds. Thanks so much for sharing. You are such an amazing person. I can’t wait to see you again,
    Love Kendra

  2. This dress is fabulous! I cant wait to see more of it (diff angles) and more of this line. Your blog is wicked. I’ve enjoyed following it. I’m enticed for the rest of the line.

  3. Hi Kim,
I’ve been watching Pro. Run. every Tue. night and I am totally into it. I really liked this blog entry and it is good to know that your still here and finding inspiration on this long and narrow sandstone rock I like to call G.I.

  4. Your model looks like a garden gnome. Where are her shoes? I’ve seen work you’ve done from the past and it doesn’t look like it’s evolving and it’s definitely not avant garde. Just my 2 cents.

  5. Nice, I likey.

I totally have a thing for smart fashion that bonds with nature. I like your direction. I found my way here through Neil Grant.

  6. I think it’s gorgeous and definitely different than what I have seen from you in the past. It is great that you are exploring new ways to express yourself through fashion and I think your work is definitely evolving.

“Avant-garde represents a pushing of the boundaries of what is accepted as the norm or the status quo, primarily in the cultural realm… The term was originally used to describe the foremost part of an army advancing into battle (also called the vanguard) and now applied to any group, particularly of artists, that considers itself innovative and ahead of the majority.” – You definitely have a flare for being different and your bursts of creative energy sets you apart from the rest. You are non-conventional and it’s that energy that vibrates from your work. You are a vanguard fighter and that strength will carry you through. Keep it up!

  7. Hey Kim:

I am so sorry that you have been getting such nasty remarks on your blog. I think it is pretty uncalled for to write that kind of shit to someone you don’t know.
    love maggie

  8. I think that Kendra’s comment is right on the mark (and a good explanation of the term “avante-garde”, thnx I didn’t know the history of the terminology!). I also concur with your friend Maggie 🙂

  9. This dress is gorgeous! It looks like the one that you wore for the PRC finale, no? Maybe it’s the same dress? It’s totally fun and you looked great in it at the show.

  10. That is absolutely disgraceful. Sorry Kim, but no wonder you had to shut down your store, your clothes are tasteless.

    Keep trying, I guess

  11. is brian bailey making a joke? This is a really rad dress. I especially like the different lengths and layers at the bottom and the top too! The whole thing I guess! It’d be fun in different colours too.
Kim’s store was awesome! I wish I spent more time there. Anyway Kim, hope you are inspired by spring on galiano too!
